About the Role

As a Real Estate Development Intern/Co-Op, you'll work alongside The Port's Real Estate team to support property research, development projects, mapping and graphics, and process improvement initiatives. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in real estate development while contributing to meaningful community impact.

What You'll Do

1. Property Research & Analysis

  • Research properties and potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Assist with due diligence and project documentation.
  • Track tax-foreclosed and tax-forfeited properties.
  • Maintain property and project databases.
  • Gather information and prepare summaries for team projects.

2. Mapping & Graphics

  • Create maps and aerial graphics for projects, presentations, and grant applications.
  • Develop visualizations for planning and board presentations.
  • Help prepare materials for board meetings and community presentations.
  • Organize project photos and graphics.

3. Project & Program Support

  • Support grant-funded development and redevelopment projects.
  • Assist with stabilization, demolition, and Landbank projects.
  • Track contractor progress, timelines, invoices, and project documentation.
  • Help with grant reporting, reimbursements, and compliance tracking.
  • Attend project site visits and community meetings.

4. Process Improvement

  • Identify ways to improve team workflows and processes.
  • Help create internal guides and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Update and maintain community partner contact lists.
  • Support special projects as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Business, Economic Development, Geography/GIS, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Interest in real estate development, neighborhood revitalization, or community development.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with GIS, mapping software, or graphic design tools is a plus.
