IBEW Officer Rick Fischer joins The Port Board of Directors

For Immediate Release: January 15, 2020

CINCINNATI – The Port Board of Directors announced today that Rick Fischer has joined the organization’s board. Fischer is the business manager/financial secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 212 in Cincinnati.

Rick was appointed to the four-year term by Hamilton County Board of Commissioners to fill the position formerly held by Shane Wright.

“Not only does Rick bring a wealth of knowledge in the construction industry, he’ll also be able to keep working families at the forefront of The Port’s decision-making,” said Commission President Denise Driehaus.

Fischer, a 29-year member of IBEW Local 212, handles the day-to day-business of the organization. He also serves as a trustee presiding over the health care clinic and insurance for IBEW members and families. He presently serves on the executive boards of the Ohio State IBEW Conference, Indiana State IBEW Conference, Cincinnati AFL/CIO and the Greater Cincinnati Building and Construction Trades Council.

Shane Wright, vice-president and chief financial officer at GE Aviation, has served on the Port’s Board of Directors since 2009. “Shane will be missed. He has been a terrific financial steward and great advisor to me” added Brunner.

The Port is governed by business and community leaders that comprise its Board of Directors. Board members are unpaid volunteers and are appointed in equal number by the Mayor of Cincinnati and by the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners.
