Federal Investment Comes to Camp Washington

Port staff welcomed Congressman Greg Landsman to Camp Washington last month for a visit to the historic Crosley Building and a conversation about The Port’s ongoing work in the neighborhood.
During the visit, Congressman Landsman presented The Port with $850,000 in federal Community Project Funding to support stabilization of the Crosley Building’s east roof. The investment will help protect the historic property as The Port continues planning for its future and advancing broader redevelopment efforts in Camp Washington.

Mission-Driven Financing Supports New NorthStar Treatment Center

Nikki Boehmker, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, joined community leaders last month to celebrate the opening of NorthStar Behavioral Health’s new treatment center on Reading Road, just north of Downtown.
Uptown Consortium Inc., a managed entity of The Port, provided $10 million in federal New Markets Tax Credit financing to support the $18 million project. The new 30,000-square-foot facility expands NorthStar’s capacity to provide comprehensive behavioral health and addiction treatment, with 26 inpatient beds, a full outpatient treatment center, and a medication-assisted treatment clinic.
NorthStar began welcoming patients in mid-August. The project demonstrates how The Port and its managed entities can leverage mission-driven financing tools to support critical community investments and expand access to essential services.

It’s been a busy summer for The Port, with three major publications highlighting our work across Hamilton County.
Realm Magazine’s summer issue featured The Port’s role as a civic and development partner helping shape how complex projects get done across the region. Camp Washington also took center stage, with both the Cincinnati Business Courier and Cincinnati Enquirer publishing cover stories on The Port’s work to build on the neighborhood’s industrial and creative character and position it for its next chapter.

Downtown Marriott Groundbreaking The Port joined partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Convention Center Marriott in Downtown Cincinnati. President and CEO Laura Brunner spoke on behalf of The Port, which issued approximately $130 million in bonds as part of the more than $540 million financing package for the 700-room hotel.

1872 Ribbon Cutting
Port leadership joined 1872 to celebrate the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Camp Washington. Founded by SpaceX alumni, the company has launched production in the former David Hummel Building, bringing new life to a 124-year-old industrial property on Spring Grove Avenue.

Sedamsville Tour
Port staff were joined by project partners from Platte Architecture for a tour of recently completed homes and others currently under construction in Sedamsville. Work continues across the neighborhood, with additional homes being completed and listed for sale.

1901 Baymiller Ribbon Cutting
The Port joined Common Ground Community Development (CGCD) to celebrate the completion of 1901 Baymiller in the West End. Acquired by the Landbank in 2018 and later transferred to CGCD for redevelopment, the property has been transformed into a mixed-use building with seven apartments and ground-floor retail. Senior Vice President Jilson Daniels spoke on behalf of The Port, highlighting the project as an example of community-led redevelopment and intentional neighborhood investment.

Employee Spotlight: Bethany Ruff & Coleman Jeffers
|
|
|
|
|
The Port is pleased to welcome Bethany Ruff as our new Vice President and Controller. Bethany joins us from CECO Environmental Corp., where she served as Technical Accounting Director, and previously spent eight years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. A University of Cincinnati alumna and licensed CPA, Bethany brings extensive accounting and financial expertise to The Port.
We’re also excited to welcome Coleman Jeffers as our fall development co-op. Coleman is pursuing a Bachelor of Urban Planning at the University of Cincinnati, with a minor in Architectural Studies, and will support our Real Estate Services team. He brings experience in GIS, mapping, municipal operations, and community development through previous roles with ODOT and Delhi Township.
