The Port Surpasses 200 Home Sales
The Port closed its first home sale in April 2015 for $99,900. That house, located in Evanston, was part of a 30-unit rehabilitation effort designed to help reestablish a housing market in a neighborhood that had not seen a home sale in nearly a decade. While efforts in Evanston required significant subsidies and carried considerable risk, they demonstrated that reinvestment was both possible and replicable, laying the foundation to expand homeownership opportunities across the region.
More than a decade later, in April of 2026, The Port announced that it had closed on more than 200 home sales throughout Hamilton County, marking a major milestone in its long-term residential strategy to revive blighted and vacant properties and expand access to quality housing.

The Hamilton County Landbank, a managed entity of The Port, has been working in Historic Sedamsville for quite some time, stabilizing individual structures to prevent decline. That work is incredibly important, as it has helped preserve the neighborhood’s built environment, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance.
In 2022, at the request of the City of Cincinnati, The Port stepped in, using its tools to acquire a large portfolio of properties in the neighborhood through a court-appointed receivership to help reinvigorate the community’s housing stock, which had experienced years of disinvestment and neglect and was in critical need of repair. After securing funding from the Ohio Department of Development, the Hamilton County Commission, the City of Cincinnati, and the Cincinnati Development Fund, The Port began rehabbing 18 single-family homes in the neighborhood for future homeownership.
In March, The Port hosted a construction open house to showcase progress on the project and in the community. A special thank you to Platte Architecture and Design for helping us envision the design, and a multitude of construction partners: CORE Resources, Adams Construction and Renovations, Unlimited Carpentry, Queen City Contractors, Prestige Home Improvement & Roofing, and Firehouse Nursery, who are working hard every day to get this project across the finish line. We are also thankful to the Sedamsville Civic Association, which has been a strong proponent of this work. We look forward to cutting the ribbon on these homes with so many of you soon!

In April, the City of Cincinnati broke ground on its first public skatepark, an exciting destination for skaters of all levels, adding momentum to the ongoing revitalization of Camp Washington. We can’t wait to roll in when it’s complete this fall!
