At the Table
Every other month, we come to the table by visiting a local restaurant that The Port has supported in some way. We highlight the people, places, and projects that help shape Cincinnati’s neighborhoods. This series showcases The Port’s strategic investment in these communities while also boosting the visibility and vitality of the restaurants, reinforcing the impact of The Port’s involvement.
1 More Bite | Bond Hill
The Space & Story
From the moment you step inside 1 More Bite, the calm and welcoming atmosphere is noticeable. The space is clean and bright, with soft floral touches that add warmth without feeling overdone. You can see directly into the kitchen, which makes the experience interactive and transparent, reinforcing that everything is made from scratch.
Owned by Julia Frierson, a self-taught chef and founder of the family-operated catering business, 1 More Bite grew from catering into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Bond Hill.
When we met Julia, her presence immediately stood out. She was calm yet confident, thoughtful in the way she spoke about her journey, and clearly hands-on in every aspect of the business. There is a quiet determination about her that reflects how much work has gone into building this space.
She approaches food as an art form, transforming everyday ingredients into dishes that are bold, balanced, and thoughtfully presented. That passion shows not just in the menu, but in the care she brings to the kitchen and to the people she serves.
Catering remains central to the business. From weddings and corporate events to community gatherings, 1More Bite creates customized menus tailored to each client. That same personal approach carries into the restaurant, where meals feel intentional rather than mass-produced.
This is a space that works for a quick but high-quality lunch break, a casual meet-up with coworkers, or picking up catering for a larger celebration. It is fast but real. Convenient but crafted.
What’s on the Menu
1 More Bite offers both affordable lunch specials and heartier plates that reflect its scratch- kitchen roots.
When we visited, we started with the Cheeseburger Egg Rolls, served golden and crisp with a side of creamy and tangy burger sauce perfect for dipping. The outside had that perfect crunch, and inside was seasoned beef and melted cheese that felt indulgent but balanced.
For our mains, we ordered the Mac and Cheese topped with crispy chicken and a plate of BBQ wings with fries. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, finished with a sprinkle of cheese on top and layered with thick, crispy chicken strips that added texture and flavor to every bite. The BBQ wings were glossy and generously sauced, tender on the inside with a slight caramelization on the outside. The fries were hot, hand-cut style, and the perfect salty complement to the wings.
Everything felt hearty, flavorful, and satisfying without cutting corners. It tasted like comfort food made with intention.
The ten-dollar lunch specials, available Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., include a Five Cheese Mac Bowl with chicken or shrimp, a Chicken Salad Croissant combo, a Salad and Soup combo, a Loaded Baked Potato combo, and a Veggie Croissant combo, all designed to be convenient and filling.
Beyond lunch, the menu offers small bites like egg rolls and salmon croquette bites, sandwiches and wings, including the Bond Hill Smashburger and Nashville Hot Fish Sandwich, and heartier plates such as protein-topped mac and cheese, Tuscan Chicken or Salmon Alfredo, and loaded baked potatoes. Fresh salads, dessert of the day, and fruit-flavored slushies round out the offerings.
The range reflects Julia’s versatility. You can grab a quick lunch, share small bites with friends, or sit down to a full comfort-driven plate that feels thoughtfully prepared.

Why This Place
The Port has been working in the Bond Hill Business District since 2015, assembling key properties after revitalization was identified as a top community priority. In partnership with the Community Economic Advancement Initiative (CEAI) and with 1.5 million in capital support from the City of Cincinnati, The Port renovated 5,500 square feet of storefronts along Reading Road and improved site conditions to create parking and support local business retention and growth.
Today, both Davis Cookie Collection and 1 More Bite operate within properties stabilized through The Port’s long-term investment in the corridor. As the newest addition to the district reflecting a coordinated, long term strategy rather than isolated tenant placements. The addition of 1 More Bite strengthens neighborhood momentum by drawing foot traffic and activating the space, helping establish this stretch of Reading Road as a destination within Bond Hill.
Why It Matters
Restaurants like 1 More Bite activate more than a storefront. They activate a corridor. They create local jobs, generate daily foot traffic, and provide a place for neighbors to gather.
In Bond Hill, where revitalization has been community driven from the start, locally owned businesses occupying renovated spaces represent visible progress.
Looking Ahead
As Bond Hill’s Business District welcomes new businesses and community spaces, 1 More Bite’s strong catering presence extends its reach beyond Reading Road. By serving events across the region, the business brings visibility back to Bond Hill and showcases the talent rooted in the neighborhood.
Revitalization is not only about restoring buildings. It is about supporting the people who bring them to life. At 1 More Bite, that shows up in every plate served and in the continued momentum building within the Bond Hill Business District.
