Searching for Miss Bertha’s treasures

Known as “Miss Bertha” to her neighbors, the Eufaula, Ala.-born seamstress and mother of 10 died at the age of 103 in 2009. Since then, her home has been unoccupied, save for possums and vandals, and exposed to the elements.

Now, the old house has a chance for a new life. The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority recently acquired the 110-year-old, three-story frame as part of a program it manages to rehab ailing houses and demolish eyesores.
